SFC Working Group: Keep that chair out of our landfills... it's still good!
ReUP! Reupholstery by Kay Chesterfield, Inc. has developed a system that extends the life and beauty of upholstered furniture without the need for constant replacement and in turn throwing away good pieces into the landfill. In this working group meeting, Kriss Kokoefer, President of Kay Chesterfield, will present compelling evidence that your client’s upholstered furniture is worth keeping. She will demonstrate how to establish a timeline for the circular model of cleaning, slipcovering, and reupholstery in your design projects.
By adopting a more assertive circularity model, designers and their clients can re-use and reduce or eliminate waste while also saving money in the long run. Circularity is one of the "Sustainable Six" aspects, along with carbon, health, social, waste, and water.
The info is geared towards Interior Designers who are SFC Members.
The SFC Members only meetings will be held on the first and third Tuesdays each month, from 12:00-1:15 PM EST, with adjustments for holidays and special events. Each meeting will be topic specific for designers, retailers, or manufacturers in the home furnishings industry, but members can attend and participate in all working group meetings for educational and networking purposes. A generous amount of time will be given for discussion and Q/A between participants and SFC staff following a short presentation.
